La couture et moi on ne fait pas de bons amis, j’ai bien du mal à prendre les mesures, suivre les croquis….ces chiffres qui sont déjà l’essentiel de ma vie (mon travail) finissent par me sortir par les yeux, alors j’évite, le plus possible…..

With the sewing, we’re not good friends; I have a great difficulty in taking the measures, following the sketches … These figures which are already the main part of my life (my work), I begin not to be able to stand the sight of it, so I avoid it, as much as possible…

Mais j’avais dans mes tiroirs un vieux morceau de tissu assez original dont je ne savais que faire, quand soudain l’illumination et si j’en faisais un art journal pour y tracer des esquisses de mes personnages, facile à transporter dans un sac, pour les jours ou j’emmène ma fille au parc …

But I had in my drawers an old piece of a rather original tissue which I didn’t know what to do with it, when suddenly the illumination came by me: and what if I make an art journal of it, to draw sketches of my characters, easy to transport in a bag for the days when I take my daughter to the park…

J’aurais du écouter ma maman … il y a de cela de nombreuses années, alors qu’elle était à sa machine à coudre elle m’avait dit : Voudrais-tu que je t’apprenne à faire une boutonnière ? euh pardon euh non merci, maman tu sais bien que le linge maintenant on l’achète tout fait, ça ne sert donc à rien que tu me montres cela !!!!!
Il faut toujours écouter sa maman…. cela m’aurait éviter de passer un temps fou sur cette satané boutonnière de ce nouveau art journal !

I should have listened to my mom… There are several years of that, while she was at her sewing machine, she ask me: do you want me to teach you how to do a buttonhole? Hum pardon me but hum no thank you, mom you know that now we bought the linen all made, so it’s no use for you to show me that!!!!

Well, you should always listen to your mom… It would have avoid me to spend such crazy time on this damned buttonhole of this new art journal!
